This would be critical to using the service provider tool; there are a ton of jobs (housekeeping is the most obvious) that need to be alerted based on timing and occupancy criteria. As the OP indicated, it could be similar functionality to the "Triggers" logic, although I'd like it to apply to a property rather than a booking (e.g. conditions related to more than one stay)
