Configurable Resolution Line Items for Trust Accounting & Reporting
DESCRIPTION
Introduce configurable resolution transaction line items that allow Airbnb (and other OTA) resolution amounts to be split into distinct, clearly defined entries for accurate reporting and trust accounting integrations. This should also apply to cancelled reservations with partial payments, where manual allocation is often required.
PROBLEM
Resolution amounts and partial payments from cancelled reservations are currently recorded as single transactions. This does not allow separation between owner revenue, manager revenue, or mixed allocations, which is required for compliant trust accounting and accurate financial reporting.
IMPACT
- Incorrect or incomplete mapping when integrating with trust accounting systems such as VR Trust.
- Manual adjustments required outside Hostfully.
- Increased risk of reporting errors and trust accounting non-compliance.
- Reduced clarity for owner and manager financial statements.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
Enable resolution transactions and cancelled reservations with partial payments to be broken into multiple configurable line items. Examples include Airbnb resolution manager revenue, Airbnb resolution owner revenue, and Airbnb resolution split revenue. Each line item should be independently mappable for accounting integrations and reporting.
In both cases, introduce a notification or flag prompting the manager to manually review and allocate amounts correctly before they sync or post to trust accounting systems. Also provide control over whether other related fees are included or excluded before or after these allocations are applied.
