VRBO USD Limitation for International Properties
VRBO operates in USD, but many properties around the world are priced in other local currencies. In addition, some countries cannot use Stripe due to country-specific restrictions or agreements, which prevents certain properties from connecting to VRBO directly.
As a result, these properties often have to rely on iCal connections instead of a full direct integration. The downside is that iCal is limited and does not support full dynamic syncing, which can reduce exposure, efficiency, and potentially booking traffic.
A practical solution, which I have seen other PMS platforms implement, is to allow the system to take the property’s base currency, convert it into USD, and create a separate VRBO-specific rate plan. This dedicated rate plan can then be mapped to VRBO so that the property complies with VRBO’s USD requirements while still benefiting from dynamic integration rather than manual updates.
This would be a valuable feature enhancement, especially if you plan to support properties in more international markets.
