Be able to set tax rates to start on specific dates
I just received a notice from my municipality that they are increasing the tax rates:
If you are a transient lodging provider or intermediary, you must collect the Transient Lodging Tax at the new rate for all stays ending on or after January 1, 2027. Transient lodging tax is based on the date occupancy ends. For stays that begin in 2026 and end on or after January 1, 2027, the increased rate must be applied to the retail price of the entire stay, not just the portion that occurs in 2027.
I cannot make that update to my tax rates now, or it would apply to any bookings before then. Another challenge is that I cannot predict who may book a stay starting in 2026, but it ends on or after Jan 1.
